Yuka deciphers the compositions of food and cosmetic products and evaluates their health impacts for the consumers through a simple scan.
Compositions and ingredients printed on products are often ‘incomprehensible’ for layman consumers. To address this issue, this app translates and represents these information in a simplistic way with an overall evaluation point (x/100) as well as a color code (excellent, good, mediocre or bad). This is followed by a more detailed list including both the negative and positive ingredients and their respective evaluation. For products that receive a negative rating, the app also recommend better alternatives.
Currently there are over 1.5 million food products and 500,000 cosmetic products recorded in this app. The evaluation and recommendation are claimed to be 100% indepedent and objective without the influence from brands.
