Cities: Skylines is a city building game released by Paradox Interactive in 2015. The player is challenged to build, maintain, and control or manage a city. In Cities: Skylines, the theme of sustainability plays an important role.
Cities: Skylines makes the player an ecological citizen. You are an ecological citizen when you as an individual take “the responsibility to refrain from harm to the environment, as well as to participate in preserving and restoring the environment”. Throughout the game, the player is consciously and unconsciously motivated to make choices that are good for the environment. For example, the player is prompted to separate garbage instead of dumping it in nature. In addition, the player is also encouraged to build parks and car-free zones, and so on.
